Because the Allianz is a little way outside Munich itself, there aren’t many places to grab a drink around the stadium – indeed the only real option is the Paulaner-Treff beer hall in the Südkurve Stand itself.
Luckily there are plenty of places in the city to get a drink or two before the match! Augustiner-Keller is a typical Bavarian Beer Hall that is very popular anytime, let alone before a game! Café Schiller is one of the top sports bars in Munich as well so you can’t go wrong in paying a visit here.
There is of course a range of Irish pubs in Munich with Killians Irish Pub being one of the best on offer.
Right at the metro station “Kieferngarten” which is one station before the actual stop next to the stadium there is the so-called “Arena Treff”. Huge beer garden and restaurant where many fans meet before going to the stadium. Good Bavarian beer and many fans, what do you need more? Especially for Bayern Munich fans come froming outside of Munich this is a great place to catch up.
Since the stadium is pretty far outside it’s a very viable option to go and drink some beers in the city center before getting to the stadium. The numerous bars, pubs and beer gardens around Marienplatz and Stachus are always worth a visit.
The area near the ground is decent for standing around and sinking a few pre-match pints, but if you get to the stadium early, you can take advantage of a uniquely Bavarian tradition. While the beer garden is well celebrated all over, the indoor beer gardens that are to be found inside the Allianz Arena are something special. Naturally, one is for FC Bayern and the other for 1860, so depending on your team preference – or beer, as one serves Paulaner and the other Hacker Pschorr – take your pick and pull up a spot on the bench.
